Okay, so you want to be a professional singer/songwriter? As a part-time voice coach, I hear people tell me every other week that they want to sing for a living. When we get down to the conversation. I usually find that it means they .want instant fame and put in little or no work to achieve that lofty goal.At this point I would like to point out to anyone who is interest that. you can make a living singing at weddings. events and functions while you are still in control of your life and have not yet heard.
This job does not involve traveling to media conferences
And directing the big wigs of executives, advertisers and record companies. But this requires arriving at the concert on time. under your own steam and performing at your best. regardless of your mood and general well-being. If you can sing (and I don’t mean that mom. and grandpa think you’re great, but that you can hold. an audience for a few hours), there are good paying jobs for singers. Most popular styles.
In the 20 or so years I’ve been singing for money,
I’ve been lucky enough to sing with some great bands, as a solo artist, in duets and trios. I sang classic rock, indie, pop, Motown, soul and pretty much everything else. Always ready to learn, I have recently added classics to the list.
What separate us songwriters from the average aspiring pop star is a great work ethic. and the knowledge that no matter how good you think you are, you can always improve. It hurts me to see singers on a reality show before they’re ready for local shows. let alone national television. So if you come down from the clouds and want to work as a singer at weddings and concerts, my advice is this:
You need a VERY well-practiced set.
In the Internet age, references and good pitches are essential to a long career. so “splashing” won’t work. Song selections should made with the customer in mind, NOT you. The trick is to find a happy medium between the songs you like and the songs your audience wants to hear at their event. Don’t pick all your favorites without considering the event type and audience demographics.
If you want to capture the high-end wedding market, think about three parts of the “big day” that you can cater to. If you can sing classical or another suitable style. offer to 강남풀싸롱 during the service when the bride enters, the happy couple signs. the marriage certificate and when they leave the church. Also in a civil wedding ceremony. I noticed that the bride and groom already have a good idea of what kind of music they. want to hear for this important day.
Couples often want to create a relaxed atmosphere. at wedding breakfasts, so jazz and swing always go well. Explain in advance whether you should be low-key and unobtrusive. or whether the bride and groom expect you to liven things up immediately.
If you are planning an evening reception,
You usually want a festive atmosphere, so choose your floor coverings . Be sure to talk to the DJ if there’s one there and ask him beforehand if possible. so you avoid half your list before proceeding. You can pay for these shows or put together a few wedding day packages.
Corporate events are also great paid gigs, but they are a tough market, especially for a beginner. The best way to get this type of work is to get you a professional backup agent. Make sure you use a reputable company and check who their client list is. You will be ask to sign a contract before you start working. so be sure to read the fine print or, better yet, have a lawyer read it for you.
Avoid signing an “exclusive” contract with a single agent,
as they may keep you rather than promise work. If you want to get enough work to support yourself full time. you need to be able to book with more than one agent and find the work yourself.
It is expect that 20% of the payment plus V.A.T. to your representative about the concert. The agent will ask you for high-quality photos. great sound-proof soundtracks, and videos. Write a good biography about yourself and try not to exaggerate your experiences.
Most cities also have traces of live music in bars, pubs and clubs, and this is a good place to start. Learning a trade before a stormy party is the best way to heal . but it’s not for everyone and not for the faint of heart. Good quality record labels are available from audio retailers and on the Internet. You need a reliable playback source such as a laptop or pad.
